One award will be given to a filmmaker in each of the following categories: 

 

Mobile – Third Screen Award...morE TBa

An award given to filmmakers who are pursuing the art of film on the third screen, adapting

the art form to the mobile platform, including cell phones, I-pods, I-phones, blackberries, etc.

 

YouTube Award

This award will be given to an exceptional filmmaker whose work showcases the use of

YouTube as a platform for the art of filmmaking. This award will be voted on and determined

in part by the YouTube internet audience.

 

MySpace TV Award

This award will be given to an exceptional filmmaker whose work showcases the use of

MySpace TV as a platform for the art of filmmaking. This award will be voted on and

determined in part by the MySpace TV internet audience.

 

Independent Music Video (DVD) Director Award ...MORE TBA

An award given to independent directors who are creating exceptional works of art in

the music video category.

 

Music Documentary Award

Shorts – Award given to filmmakers who have created film(s) which explore music and

musicians as the main theme of their work, specifically in the documentary realm, and

 under 30 minutes.

 

Features  - Award given to filmmakers who have created film(s) which explore music

and musicians as the main theme of their work, specifically in the documentary realm,

 feature length.

 

Musical Score Award

An award given to a composer who created an exceptional musical score composed

specifically for a film.

 

Music Soundtrack Award

An award given to a film which showcases an exceptional original soundtrack.

 

PRDFF Maverick Filmmaker Award

 

A true maverick filmmaker in the sense that his work continuously pushes the envelope in

terms of its originality, in a sort of seat of his pants style. Maverick is defined as someone

who exhibits great independence in thought and action. Filmmakers must nominate them-

selves for this award and include a brief written description as to why they are maverick

filmmakers.

 

Shorts – An award given to a filmmaker creating a film under 45 minutes, who displays a

maverick sense of style.

 

Features – An award given to a filmmaker creating a feature-length film, who displays a

maverick sense of style.

 

Best of the Fest

This award will be determined by the judges and given to the filmmaker who overall displays

an extraordinary amount of excellence in the art of film, who encompasses the theme of

 this year’s festival of Music and Film, and who displays a sense of visionary talent.

 

People’s Choice Award...MORE TBA

This award will be determined by audience members of the festival and will be opened to

all films that are official selections of the Paso Robles Digital Film Festival. 

 

Central California Filmmaker Award

This award will be given to an exceptional filmmaker based in Central California. Filmmakers

must nominate themselves for this award.

 

PRDFF Award for Excellence

This award will be given to the filmmaker who displays excellence in the art of film, who

encompasses the theme of this year’s festival of Music and Film, in the realm of Martin

Scorcese’s great music films, including The Last Waltz, No Direction Home and his up-

coming film about The Rolling Stones.

 

Student Filmmaker Award

This award will be given to a student filmmaker who displays excellence in filmmaking,

and encompasses this year’s theme of Music and Film, open to students who are currently

enrolled in high school, college or university.

 

Kid Filmmaker Award

This award will honor a filmmaker under the age of 18, whose work displays excellence

and creativity and incorporates this year’s theme of Music and Film. Open to persons

under 18. 
 

various short awards to be announced

 

As part of the festival’s goals of philanthropy...a scholarship will be awarded to a

local student at Cuesta College, who is pursuing higher education in the area(s) of arts

and/or film. In addition a percentage of the net proceeds will be given to benefit a
